We rode the Rocky Mountaineer train from Vancouver to Banff then from Jasper back to Vancouver. We traveled with our friends Doug & Sally Borrett and visited Butchard Gardens in Victoria before boarding the train, then visited three Canadian National Parks along the route. This was one of the most relaxing trips we’ve ever taken. The food and accommodations were excellent. Very enjoyable trip.

Traveling in North America can be a diverse and exciting experience, with its vast landscapes, rich history, and cultural diversity. The continent is home to some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Grand Canyon in the United States, Niagara Falls on the border between the United States and Canada, and the CN Tower in Canada. Visitors can also explore the rich history and culture of the continent through its museums, art galleries, and festivals, and enjoy the delicious North American cuisine, such as hamburgers, and pizza. North America also offers a wide range of adventure activities, such as skiing in Canada and the United States, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, and touring the pyramids in Mexico. However, visitors should be aware of the potential challenges of traveling in North America, such as safety concerns, language barriers, and the vast distances between destinations. It is important to research the specific countries and regions to be visited, and to take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Shown below are the trips we’ve taken in North America.
Mexico (Cabo) – March 2019
Donna went with her sister Jan, and Carey’s sister LuAnn to a time-share resort in Cabo, Mexico owned by Carey’s sister and brother-in-law Carole and Dave Green. It was also Donna’s birthday. They all had a good time and celebrated Donna’s birthday during the trip. Carey did not go on this trip because he was in Oracle, AZ working at a YMCA camp.
Canada (Manitoba), North Dakota – October 2018
We traveled over 5,000 miles, 4,800 by truck and RV, then a flight to Churchill, Manitoba to see polar bears in their native habitat. The weather was cold most of the time, but it made the experience even better. We also visited 7 US national monuments going there and on the way home. Great trip. The tour with Fantasy RV tours began at the International Peace Gardens at the North Dakota/Manitoba border and ended in Winnipeg. We traveled with 36 other people on the tour.
Mexico (Juarez – SPJ) – May 2017
This was our 2nd SPJ Mission trip to the colonias of Juarez. We helped complete the building of a home for one of the families in the colonias. We participated with members of the UPC Church and the members of the Light of the World Ministry from Alabama.
Ontario RFE – October 2010
A distinguished contingent of Rotarians hailing from El Paso, TX and Clovis, NM embarked on a Rotary Friendship Exchange journey to Deep River, Ontario, Canada. During our visit, we were graciously welcomed by fellow members of various Rotary Clubs in the region. Our time there was nothing short of exceptional, and it was during this visit that we became acquainted with a Rotary project aimed at constructing homes in El Salvador. This discovery led us to actively engage in the project, and we participated in two missions—one in November 2010 and another in November 2011.
