We drove to St. George, Utah to attend the Pacific Zone RVF rally. On the way we camped in Page, AZ and visited Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and the entire Glen Canyon National Recreation area. Beautiful! Upon arriving in St. George we camped at Temple View RV park and toured Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, traveling from that location daily. We also visited some local sites in and around St. George, including the Trailmaster’s (Jack Randolf’s home). The weather was perfect the entire trip and we had a wonderful time visiting the spectacular sites in this area.

RV camping is a popular way to explore the great outdoors while still enjoying the comforts of home. RV stands for “recreational vehicle,” and these vehicles come in a variety of sizes and styles, from small trailers to large motorhomes. RV camping provides the flexibility to travel at your own pace, with the freedom to choose your own route and schedule. RVs typically have all the amenities of a home, including kitchen and bathroom facilities, sleeping areas, and entertainment options. Many RV parks and campgrounds offer full hookups for electricity, water, and sewage, as well as amenities like swimming pools, playgrounds, and hiking trails. RV camping allows travelers to experience nature up close and personal, with the ability to explore national parks, forests, and other natural areas. However, RV camping also requires some preparation and planning, such as obtaining proper permits, researching campground options, and ensuring that the RV is properly maintained and equipped. Despite the preparation required, RV camping can provide a unique and memorable outdoor adventure for those who love to travel and explore.
Rotary Trip (Aurora, Colorado) – October 2015
I made this trip to Aurora, CO to learn more about a Rotary Project known as Ambulance Gateway. On the way there I stopped at several places to do some sightseeing, including the Enchanted Trails RV Park, which is a Route 66 icon; Tent Rocks National Monument – where I hiked; then onto Capulin Volcano National Monument. After leaving Aurora, I went to Valley of the Fires National Monument, where I stayed for 2 days doing more sightseeing in the area. I toured Three Rivers Petroglyph National Monument; Smokey Bear Historical Site; Fort Stanton, and Lincoln State Monument in New Mexico. It was a great trip.
RVF Rally – Estes Park – June 2015
This was a trip Donna & I took to the Rotary RVF Rally. Her parents – Charlie & Barb Mannino joined us. Our first stop was at Tetilla Peak campground near Santa Fe, NM so we could visit several places in Santa Fe. We continued to Colorado Springs where we visited the Garden of the Gods and drove to the top of Pikes Peak. On our way to Estes Park we stopped at the Air Force Academy Visitor’s Center, then drove to Mary’s Lake Campground in Estes Park where the RVF Rally started. We toured Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as the famous Stanley hotel. Charlie & I went fishing a couple times and we all enjoyed the fellowship with the RVF group.

This is the first of two National Park trips in 2014. We started at home and drove to Big Bend NP, then to Seminole Canyon State Park in Texas on our way to South Padre Island National Seashore. We spent a couple days in Key West then headed toward Pennsylvania, stopping at the Kennedy Space Center, Congaree NP in South Carolina and Shenandoah NP in Virginia where we saw our first bear. From there we headed to PA for a little more than 3 weeks. On the way home we stopped for an RVF Rally in Bowling Green, KY. From there we visited the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, and then on to Branson, MS for a show, before heading home.

Vista, CA Trip – March 2013
We took Barb & Charlie to visit Carl at his home in Vista, CA. Carl entertained us by taking us on several tours in the area; fishing on the pier in Oceanside and along one of the inlets. Donna & I stayed in the camper at Gualome County Park – our favorite spot when we visit Carl & Dawn. Steve & Cheryl were able to join us on this trip as well.
RVF Rally – Goldpoint, NV – October 2012
This was a camping trip that I did on my own. Donna was back in PA at the time. I went with the RVF (Recreational Vehicle Fellowship) group. This is an old ghost town that is being renovated by a guy named Herb. It has an original saloon where he serves meals and drinks, and the whole town is typical of the wild west back in the day. We also did a lot of 4-wheeling in the desert and stopped to see a castle that one man is building for himself.
