Silver City / Bisbee – August 2006


This was another camping adventure to some of the nearby sites in New Mexico and Arizona. We visited Silver City, the Gila Monument, Tombstone and Bisbee, Arizona as well as Seguaro National Park. Our tours included going into an abandon gold mine and visiting a cave. Good trip.

White Sands Picnic – July 2006


We went to White Sands with the whole family to have a picnic and enjoy riding the saucers down the hills. This was our first outing after we moved to the El Paso area.

Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert, creating the world’s largest gypsum dunefield. White Sands National Park preserves a major portion of this unique dunefield, along with the plants and animals that live here.

Wheeling, WV – December 2005


We were living in Pennsylvania at this time. We drove here to see the Christmas light display.

The Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia, is one of the nation’s largest and most extravagant holiday light shows in the U.S.
The Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights covers over 300 acres over a 6-mile drive throughout the Oglebay Resort. Ninety displays and over 1 million lights are featured in this celebration, and the entire event has been converted to use energy-efficient, brilliant LED.

Memphis, TN – December 2005


We were on a trip to El Paso to look for a home. On the way we stopped in Memphis, TN to visit Graceland – the original home of Elvis.

 The tour of Graceland Mansion includes the living room, Elvis’ parents’ bedroom, the kitchen, TV room, pool room, the famous Jungle Room, his father’s office, the newly-enhanced Trophy Building, the Racquetball Building – newly-restored to how it looked in 1977, and Meditation Garden.

New Hampshire RV Trip – October 2005


This is the first trip we took with our new camper that I bought two days after I retired from Hershey. We went to the White Mountains of New Hampshire during the fall foliage. It was beautiful – the best time of the year in the northeast.

Watkins Glenn Camping Trip – July 2005


This is the first camping trip that Donna & I took together. We actually stayed in a tent and a had a great time. We did some hiking at the state park and enjoyed a campfire at night.

Washington DC (Dad) – May 2005


We visited the World War II memorial in Washington DC with my Mom & Dad. My dad is a WW II veteran and he wanted to go there to honor his fellow veterans who fought in the war.

Cape May, NJ – October 2004


We went here with Charlie & Barb to stay at their friend Mary Lou’s beach house. We helped Charlie repaint several rooms in the house. Donna & I made several walks on the beach and toured most of the area while we were there.

In 1976, Cape May was designated a National Historic Landmark as the Cape May Historic District, making Cape May the only city in the U.S. to be wholly designated as a national historic district.
