We toured the Holy Land, spending 7 days in Israel and 7 days in Jordan. It is one thing to study the Bible when you are 7,000 miles away, but it is a completely different – some say life-changing – experience doing it while in the Holy Land. It is only in Israel and Jordan that the Bible truly comes to life. Another reason we visited this area was to combat the “fearmongering” which the media are constantly blasting us with on TV and in the newspaper. We were completely safe every day and everywhere we went. Education is the key to understanding. We had incredible tour guides who instilled in us the history and current political environment of these countries; we were able to visit several UNESCO World Heritage sites and, of course, Petra, one of the “Seven Wonders of the World.”

Traveling in the Middle East can be a fascinating and culturally rich experience, with its ancient history, diverse religions, and stunning landscapes. The region is home to some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, such as the pyramids of Egypt, the Petra in Jordan, and the ancient city of Damascus in Syria. Visitors can also explore the rich culture and traditions of the region through its museums, markets, and festivals, and enjoy the delicious Middle Eastern cuisine, such as hummus, falafel, and kebabs. The Middle East also offers stunning natural beauty, including the deserts of Saudi Arabia and Oman, and the beaches of Lebanon and Turkey. However, visitors should be aware of the potential risks and challenges of traveling in the Middle East, including political instability, safety concerns, and cultural differences. It is important to research the specific countries and regions to be visited, and to take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Shown below are trips we’ve taken to the Middle East. Traveling in a group tour works best for us in this area of the world.
UAE Dubai/Oman Cruise – February 2011
This was a cruise that Donna & I did on our own to Dubai, Oman and Abu Dhabi, which are all part of the United Arab Emirates. The trip included a dune buggy ride to a camel farm where we drank camel milk. We also spent time in Dubai visiting the many wonders of that city, including the tallest building on Earth.
