This was our 2nd SPJ Mission trip to the colonias of Juarez. We helped complete the building of a home for one of the families in the colonias. We participated with members of the UPC Church and the members of the Light of the World Ministry from Alabama.

SPJ – Following in the Footsteps of Jesus – Siguiendo los Pasos de Jesus was organized by a group of caring friends who saw a need and felt it was their Christan duty to serve those born in less favorable conditions, into a world of generational poverty. This cycle needs to STOP with this generation. They feel that through their support, their brothers and sisters in Christ, they can make a difference! SPJ provides educational opportunities as well as infrastructure to an area that is home to over 4000 families in Juarez, Mexico.
Casas por Cristo, on the other hand, is a non-profit organization that builds homes for families living in poverty in Mexico, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. They also work to provide community development programs to help people break the cycle of poverty. Both organizations are committed to helping those who are less fortunate and making a positive impact in the world.

I went with our church (UPC) to help build a home for a family in Juarez.

This was the third trip we took to Juarez to build a home with the Casas por Cristo group. The trip was organized by our church – University Presbyterian. Donna did not go on this trip.
