Traveling in Australia and Polynesia can be a unique and rewarding experience, with a diverse range of landscapes, cultures, and experiences on offer. Australia is known for its stunning beaches, vast outback landscapes, and unique wildlife, such as kangaroos and koalas. Visitors can also explore vibrant cities like Sydney and Melbourne, and experience the rich indigenous cultures of the country. Polynesia, on the other hand, offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the relaxed and welcoming island culture, with beautiful beaches, lush tropical forests, and ancient cultural sites to explore. Visitors can also enjoy water activities like surfing and snorkeling, or simply relax and enjoy the laid-back island lifestyle. However, visitors should be aware of the potential challenges of traveling in these regions, such as the vast distances between destinations and the harsh weather conditions that can occur in some areas. It is important to research the specific countries and regions to be visited, and to take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. This was our first “Adventures Abroad” tour, a new company for us. The group consisted of 7 team members and our group leader (Serra). We flew to Melbourne, Canberra, Cairns, Darwin, Alice Springs/Ayers Rock and Sydney, and visited numerous places in each city and surrounding area. We also spent time in several national parks. The hotels were excellent as were the meals. It was a great trip and we visited parts of Australia that we had not seen before.
We cruised on the Sea Princess from Brisbane, Australia to various ports within Papua New Guinea. This was an 11-day cruise. We also spent one day in Brisbane after the cruise and visited the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and took a cruise on the Brisbane River.
This was a wonderful cruise that Donna & I went on to Tahiti. We cruised to 5 different islands within French Polynesia, including Bora Bora and Moorea. We had numerous opportunities to snorkel as well as sight-see in this tropical paradise.
This was a cruise that Donna & I went on by ourselves. It began in Sydney, then went to Tasmania and onto southern New Zealand. It ended in northern New Zealand.
This was a cruise that Donna & I took with my parents on one of the Norwegian Cruise Ships. We went to several islands of the Hawaiian Islands then to Christmas Island (Gilligan’s Island) in Kiribati.
This is a trip that Carol & I took to the Australian outback to participate in an Earthwatch expedition. Our first stop was the area around the LA Airport, then onto Fiji for a few days, before flying to Brisbane, Australia, then to the outback ( a little town known as Blackall). We spent two weeks with the Earthwatch group then flew to Cairns where we took a catamaran to do some snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. It was both an educational and fun trip.
This was the first cruise Carol & I took together. We flew to Papeete and boarded the cruise which went to several islands in French Polynesia. The pictures tell the story from there.
